Weight Loss
Medical weight loss with real follow-up, plus hydration/wellness support when needed
At Blue Palm Medical, we offer personalized medical weight loss options designed to support appetite control, healthier eating habits, improved metabolic health, and long-term weight management. Two of the most commonly used medications in modern weight loss programs are semaglutide and tirzepatide.
Both medications are injectable options used along with nutrition, lifestyle changes, and provider monitoring. While they are similar in many ways, they work slightly differently and may be better suited for different patients.
What Is Semaglutide?
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist, meaning it mimics a natural hormone in the body called glucagon-like peptide-1. GLP-1 helps regulate appetite, blood sugar, digestion, and feelings of fullness.
Semaglutide may help patients:
- Feel full sooner
- Stay full longer
- Reduce cravings and food noise
- Eat smaller portions
- Improve blood sugar control
- Support steady, long-term weight loss
- Build better eating habits when combined with lifestyle changes
In clinical research, once-weekly semaglutide 2.4 mg, combined with lifestyle support, led to an average weight loss of 14.9% of body weight over 68 weeks, compared with 2.4% with placebo.
What Is Tirzepatide?
Tirzepatide works on two hormone pathways: GLP-1 and GIP. GIP stands for glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide. Because tirzepatide targets both GLP-1 and GIP receptors, it may have a stronger effect on appetite, fullness, blood sugar regulation, and as a result overall weight loss for some patients.
Tirzepatide may help patients:
- Reduce appetite
- Decrease cravings and food noise
- Feel full with smaller meals
- Improve blood sugar and insulin response
- Support greater weight loss in some patients
- Improve weight-related health markers when paired with nutrition and lifestyle changes
In the SURMOUNT-1 clinical trial, adults with obesity or overweight taking tirzepatide had average weight reductions of 19.5% to 20.9% with the 10 mg and 15 mg doses.
Which One May Be Best for You?
The best choice depends on your health history, weight loss goals, tolerance, budget, medication availability, and how your body responds.
Semaglutide may be a good fit if you:
- Are new to medical weight loss injections
- Want a well-established GLP-1 option
- Struggle with cravings, large portions, or constant hunger
- Prefer a gradual, steady weight loss approach
- Have a goal of moderate to significant weight loss
- Need support with appetite control and consistency
Tirzepatide may be a good fit if you:
- Want a medication that targets two metabolic hormone pathways
- Have a higher weight loss goal
- Have struggled to lose weight with diet and exercise alone
- Did not get the results you wanted with semaglutide or another GLP-1
- Have significant appetite, cravings, or “food noise”
- May benefit from stronger metabolic and appetite support
Tirzepatide may produce greater average weight loss in studies, but that does not automatically mean it is the best option for every patient. Some patients do very well on semaglutide, while others respond better to tirzepatide.
Common Side Effects
The most common side effects of both medications are digestive and may include:
- Nausea
- Constipation
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Heartburn or reflux
- Bloating
- Abdominal discomfort
- Decreased appetite
These symptoms are often dose-related and may improve as the body adjusts. At Blue Palm Medical, we use a gradual, monitored approach to help improve comfort and tolerability.

At Blue Palm Medical, our weight loss program is designed to be personalized, supportive, and medically guided. We do not believe in one-size-fits-all especially with weight loss. During your consultation, we will review your goals, medical history, current medications, lifestyle, and previous weight loss attempts to help determine whether semaglutide or tirzepatide may be the right fit for you.
Our goal is to help you lose weight safely, feel better, reduce cravings, improve confidence, and build habits that support long-term success.
